What is this CCS Reimbursement Scheme?
Motorway's CCS Reimbursement Scheme is there to reimburse dealers in the very rare instance that they inadvertently acquire stock that might be clocked, cloned, or stolen through our platform.
Why is Motorway providing this scheme?
We pride ourselves on the quality of our stock and our efforts to prevent bad actors from selling vehicles on our platform. Our recent annual dealer survey indicated that protection from fraud was the number one concern for dealers when sourcing stock from any platform. We listened and we've acted. This scheme allows you to buy with complete confidence that you won't be left out of pocket should the worst happen.
When does the CCS Reimbursement Scheme officially start?
The scheme will be available for all eligible purchases, bought in the auction, on or after January 1st, 2026. A dealer’s eligibility will be checked at the start of each calendar quarter, based on purchases made in the prior calendar quarter. For Q1 2026, your eligibility will be based on your purchases in Q4 2025.
Is there an extra cost for this?
No. The scheme is provided to all eligible dealers at no extra cost. You simply need to meet the eligibility requirements.
What does the reimbursement actually pay out?
Where we accept your claim, we will reimburse up to a maximum of £30,000 per vehicle:
Clocked Vehicle: We cover the difference in value between the price you paid and the price achieved through a trade out channel (e.g. BCA, Manheim, Aston Barclay etc.) with the real mileage. If you wish to retain the vehicle for sale, we may, instead, reimburse you the difference in CAP value between the real mileage and the clocked mileage.
Cloned or Stolen Car: We reimburse the full value of the vehicle you paid (up to a maximum of £30,000 inc VAT per vehicle).
How long do I have to request reimbursement?
You have 90 days from the date you paid for the vehicle to make any claim for reimbursement under the scheme.
Would it not just be easier to return a vehicle?
In some cases, yes. For cloned and stolen vehicles, both you and we have an obligation to report them to the Police since they are stolen goods. In which case, all we’ll need is evidence that you’ve reported it to the Police before we process payment to you. They will then confiscate and collect the vehicle.
For clocked vehicles, if reimbursement is approved, we’ll need you to allow us 3 days to confirm whether a vehicle return is accepted, in exchange for a full refund to you. We’ll also refund any fees you paid (i.e., buying fee, Motorway Move, Motorway Protect etc), as a gesture of goodwill. If a vehicle return is unsuccessful in this timeframe, you have two options. Either (1) you trade out the vehicle and we’ll reimburse the difference, or (2) you retain the vehicle and we reimburse the difference in CAP value between the clocked and real mileage.
