1. Why is Motorway introducing paid listings?

We understand your pain points when it comes to seller commitment, and we want to encourage confidence in our transactions for both parties. As such, we're now testing a paid listing feature that will allow private sellers to make an upfront payment and signal their commitment to selling their car. We believe that a seller who has made an upfront payment to promote their listing is showing an even greater level of commitment to sell their vehicle, resulting in even smoother transactions.


2. What does a paid listing mean for dealers?

This feature provides you with an additional signal to help identify highly motivated sellers. While all sellers on Motorway are looking to sell, the 'Paid listing' badge indicates a seller that has made a higher upfront commitment. These listings may be more likely to result in a successful sale, helping you buy with even more confidence.


3. What does a paid listing mean for sellers?

As part of this trial, a percentage of sellers are given the optional choice of whether or not they want to pay to promote their vehicle and signal their commitment to our dealers. Paid listings are sellers who have paid a one-time, non-refundable fee of £29.99 to promote their listing within the auction. This fee will be reviewed and may be adjusted in future.


4. How do I find a paid listing?

It's simple! You can recognise a paid listing in two ways:

  • Unique badge: Look for the 'Paid listing' badge displayed prominently on the car tile in the daily auction.
  • Filter option: Use the new filter on the auction page to 'Only show paid listings' and easily see this highly committed inventory.


5. Does this affect what cars are recommended to me?

No. A seller paying the upfront fee only results in the 'Paid listing' badge being applied, and the fact you can find them via the filter. The visibility to you and other relevant dealers remains the same as any other car in the auction.
