What is included under Motorway Protect?

Dealers can claim against a wide range of mechanical and electrical components for sudden mechanical and / or electrical failure.

Here’s a list of the most common components claimable under the scheme – this list is not exhaustive

Electrical systems

  • In-car entertainment (up to £2,500 inc VAT), lighting units (up to £1,000 inc VAT), alternator, starter motor, central locking door motor, windscreen wiper motor, horn.

Exhaust system

  • Catalytic converter (vehicles up to 100,000 miles)
  • Diesel particulate filter

Heating system

  • Air conditioning condenser, air conditioning dryer, air conditioning compressor and compressor clutch

Engine

  • Cylinder head, cylinder head gasket, piston ring, crankshaft and bearings, flywheel, inlet and exhaust valves, ring gear
  • Timing chain and tensioner, distributor and drive, ignition coil, oil pump

Suspension and steering

  • Steering rack, ABS (anti-lock braking system) and hydraulic unit, front and rear brake calliper

Transmission and drive train

  • Manual and automatic gearbox (internal components), transfer box, drive shaft, prop shaft, clutch pressure plate, clutch release, bearing

Repair and service costs

  • Consequential damage (up to £500 inc VAT ), working materials when required by an authorised repair, labour costs (up to £55 exc VAT) inside M25, or £50 (exc VAT) outside M25
